About Us
An Overview:
Our College LAKSHMI NARAYAN SAHU MAHAVIDYALAYA, was established at Jagatpur in 1980 to commemorate the contribution and services of the noted social worker Padmashree Late Sri Lakshmi Narayan Sahu. Some illustrious personalities of Cuttack and Jagatpur including entrepreneurs and local residents and the Lakshmi Narayan Sahu Memorial Committee members under the guidance of Dr.Harekrushna Mahatab felt the need to enshrine the memory and sacrifice of this great son of India in the fields of social and humanitarian work, literature and philanthropy. This college is the realization of this noble desire.
The College was duly affiliated to Utkal University for IA in 1983. Then, it was affiliated to CHSE in 1985 and Utkal University in 1989-90 session and was subsequently recognized by the Government.
The College started functioning in Nimpur High School and later in 1983 was shifted to its own building which is adjacent to N.H.-5. Now the college has its own land and building.
The College offers a great scope for the local youth of Jagatpur and the adjacent area aspiring for higher education. Sincere efforts are being made for further growth of the college in academic as well as other developmental aspects.
The College is situated on the banks of river Mahanadi adjacent to N.H.-5 and in the suburb of the historic Cuttack city. Our college is destined to grow in stature and quality with the co-operation and blessings of well wishers and stake holders.
At Present, the college offers courses for +2 Arts/ Science / Commerce and +3 Arts/ Science/ Commerce.
The college has been duly affiliated to UGC under Act. 2(f) & 12 (B) since 2008 and was accredited by NAAC in the year 2009.
The Crest:
The CREST optimises the multidimensional personality of the great soul Padmashree Late Lakshmi Narayan Sahu, a great social worker, an innovative genius, a perennial source of unending knowledge and wisdom, a symbol of fraternity and Universal brotherhood. It consists of a lotus within a circle that is in the semi – embraces of leaves. The circle stands for intellectual journey of the youth from incompleteness to completeness. It consists of a LOTUS within a circle that is in the semi-embrace of leaves. The LEAVES are the fountainhead of the growing spirit of Youth. They also represent tolerance, fellow feeling and brotherhood.
The CIRCLE within symbolizes the unity and strengthen of the students and it also represents the light, which shows us the path to the beckoning future.
The LOTUS stands for everlasting tenderness, peace and a nationalistic forever.
